Monday COVID-19 Update: 7-Day Statewide Average Under 400 Cases, Wasatch County Reports No New Cases

The 7-day rolling average of new COVID-19 cases is under 400 for the first time since August. Summit and Wasatch Counties also saw a significant decrease in cases week over week.

 

The Utah Department of Health announced 173 new COVID-19 cases, which is about 20 fewer cases than the state saw at the same time last week. The 7-day rolling average for new cases is 397 per day. 

In the Wasatch Back, both Summit and Wasatch Counties saw decreases in cases week over week. 

Summit County reported four new cases. In comparison, last Monday, Summit saw seven. 

Wasatch County reported no new cases - down considerably from last Monday when the county saw five. The last time Wasatch County had a day without any cases was in early September. 

There were 2,111 people tested for the first time statewide, with 3,778 total tests administered. On average 3.5% of “tests over tests” are coming back positive, while the average percent positivity for “people over people” is around 7%. 

Utah’s Department of Health reported one new death. To date, 2,133 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including 11 from Summit County and 21 from Wasatch County.

The department also reported 17 new hospitalizations. There are 121 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Around 65% of all referral center ICU beds are in use.

There were 2,326 people vaccinated for COVID-19 since Sunday, bringing the total number to 1,498,039 doses administered. 

Summit County has administered 32,847 total vaccines and Wasatch has given out 16,203 doses. Both counties are registering to vaccinate residents 18 years or older.
