Tuesday COVID-19 Update: 300 New Cases Statewide, 5 In Summit County, 4 In Wasatch

Utah saw a significant decrease in COVID-19 cases week over week Tuesday.

The Utah Department of Health announced 300 COVID-19 cases, which is about 70 fewer cases than the state saw at the same time last week. The 7-day rolling average for new cases is 387 per day, down 37 from last week. 

In the Wasatch Back, Summit County reported five new cases. In comparison last Tuesday the county saw 14.

Wasatch County reported four new cases - which is one more case than the county saw last Tuesday.  

There were 4,018 people tested for the first time statewide, with 10,662 total tests administered. On average more than 3% of “tests over tests” are coming back positive, while the average percent positivity for “people over people” is just over 7%. 

Utah’s Department of Health reported four new deaths. To date, 2,137 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including 11 from Summit County and 21 from Wasatch County.

The department also reported 31 new hospitalizations. There are 130 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Around 69% of all referral center ICU beds are in use.

There were 28,314 people vaccinated for COVID-19 since Monday, bringing the total number to 1,526,353 doses administered. 

Summit County has administered 32,076 total vaccines and Wasatch has given out 16,304 doses. Both counties are registering to vaccinate residents 16 years or older.
