In an effort to vaccinate Summit County’s eligible teenagers against COVID-19, there will be a vaccine clinic in front of the Park City High School all day Monday.
The Summit County Health Department will be outside of the Eccles Theater at Park City High School from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
The health department will offer the Pfizer vaccine to all Summit County students 16 years or older. Students don’t need health insurance, as the vaccines will be free.
During an Intermountain Healthcare Q&A about COVID-19 and teenagers, medical director at Park City Hospital Wing Province said there’s been more attention on getting adults vaccinated during the rollout, but doesn’t mean children are immune to the virus.
"I do know that there have also been quite a few children that have been affected, lifelong with negative impact from the virus and then certainly some death," Province said. "I think that is the way to look at it as looking at the number of children who have died and then looking at the risks of COVID-19 and the impact it's had on those children, particularly those who are we're talking about vaccinating on Monday."
Students will need an appointment to get vaccinated and will need parent or guardian consent. The second dose clinic is scheduled for May 10.
