Summit County reported another COVID-19 death Thursday.
The Summit County woman who died of COVID-19 was between 65-84 years-old and was hospitalized at the time of her death. This is the first reported death in the county in nearly a month. The county has now seen 13 total COVID-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
The Summit County woman was one of four deaths reported Thursday. To date, 2,279 Utahns have died due to COVID-19.
The Utah Department of Health reported roughly 19,000 more vaccinations Thursday. Utah has administered nearly 2.5 million vaccines.
Speaking during his weekly COVID-19 briefing, Gov. Spencer Cox said in the week since 12-15 year olds have been eligible to get vaccinated about 20,000 kids have gotten their first shot, or 9% of the age group.
He said Summit County is still leading the way with vaccines.
"I want to give a special shout out to Summit County, which has the highest number of eligible people vaccinated at 66% of people ages 12 and older," he said.
Summit County has administered more than 51,000 total vaccines. And Wasatch has given out over 25,000 doses.
Cases have remained low in the Wasatch Back. Summit County reported two new cases, half as many as last Thursday. Wasatch County reported two new cases. Last Thursday the county saw one. The seven-day rolling average for new cases in both Summit and Wasatch County is around 6 per day.
The Utah Department of Health announced 266 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, which is around 150 fewer cases than the state saw at the same time last week. The seven-day rolling average of new cases is now 291 per day, down from last week’s average of 328.
On average more than 3% of “tests over tests” are coming back positive, while average percent positivity for “people over people” is over 6%.
