Summit County announced that North Summit Fire District Chief Ian Nelson was fired yesterday.
The announcement that the county council terminated his contract at the recommendation of the North Summit Fire District Administrative Control Board came Saturday evening. The notice didn’t state a reason for the firing.
A Summit County Council special meeting is scheduled tomorrow. The county says the action will be ratified there, and more information will become available afterward.
The council is scheduled to convene as the governing board of the North Summit Fire District at 3:40 p.m. during the meeting. It will take place electronically with the anchor location of the Ledges Event Center at 202 East Park Road in Coalville. To attend via Zoom, visit summitcounty.org.
The county says an interim successor will be named as soon as possible, and the district will open a recruitment process to permanently fill the vacancy.
