PC Tots to operate at Park City Library through 2030

Park City has extended the lease for the nonprofit PC Tots so it can continue operating a childcare center at the library.

On Thursday the Park City Council approved a five-year extension of PC Tots’ lease.

The lease was set to expire in June and the initial request was for a three-year renewal. Councilmember Bill Ciraco suggested increasing the renewal term to five years.

“I have to imagine that makes your operation, your planning, a little bit easier,” Ciraco told the nonprofit. “You’ve been there for two years, you’ve proven the concept. You’ve been a good operator. And if we can make life a little bit easier, I’d be inclined to do that.”

The rest of the council agreed and extended the lease five years, through June 2030.

The nonprofit currently serves 19 students at its library-based childcare facility.

In 2023, the council approved the lease with a rent reduction after the Park City Co-op Preschool ended its long-time operation in the space.

PC Tots Executive Director Sue Banerjee said the facility has worked well for families.

“It has been an honor to continue the tradition of education that that building has served for so many years,” Banerjee said. “It’s been wonderful to be able to be in that space and educating the next generation of Parkites.”

Also Thursday, the council approved over $25,000 in funding for PC Tots as part of its nonprofit services grant program.

Elected officials plan to have a larger discussion about Park City’s financial assistance for local childcare later this year.
