Confirmed Cases Up To 159 In Summit County, 40 In Wasatch County On Sunday

In a Facebook post Utah Representative Melissa Garff Ballard of Bontiful confirmed the death of her father, businessman Bob Garff. He was 77 years old. Garff was the chairman of the Ken Garff Automotive Group, named after his father, and was also a former Speaker of Utah's House of Representatives. Although not yet added to the state's official numbers, Garff is the third confirmed death of COVID-19 in Utah.

 

The Utah Department of Health released new COVID-19 numbers on Sunday. There are 719 confirmed cases statewide, up 117 from Saturday.  Summit County now has 159 confirmed cases which is 24 more than Saturday. Eight of the cases are visitors while the other 151 are residents. Wasatch County has 40 confirmed cases up 3 from Saturday. Thirty-nine are residents and one is a visitor.

  

This time last Sunday, March 22, Summit County had 50 confirmed cases and Wasatch had 8. 

 

Salt Lake County has the most confirmed cases in the state with 324 up 45 from Saturday. Summit County has the 2nd most in the state, Davis County has 69 confirmed cases.  

 

UDOH reports 13,993 people have been tested in Utah.  About 5% of those tests come back positive. Two Utahns died as a result of COVID-19 earlier this week. An older woman under the age of 60 from Southwestern Utah and a Davis County man over the age of 60. Both had underlying health issues.
