Friday COVID-19 Update: Case Averages Continue to Fall in Summit and Wasatch Counties

Friday’s COVID-19 report from the Utah Department of Health showed a continuing decline in statewide averages for positive tests and hospital capacities.

Friday’s 1,216 new COVID-19 cases brought the statewide rolling seven-day average of positive tests down to 1,222, continuing a steady decline seen since an alarming holiday spike in early January. One week ago, the statewide average was roughly 1,500.

Summit County reported 11 new cases on Friday. Wasatch County reported 13.

The rolling seven-day average for the statewide percent of positive tests is now at 16.3%. That number has also been declining, but not as rapidly as the number of positive tests has.
