Hideout Referendum: Here's How The Vote On Annexation Will Be Counted

Hideout Utah

The polls are closing at 8 p.m. Tuesday night for Hideout Town’s annexation referendum.

Hideout Town officials will be taking the ballots to Heber and making a preliminary tally that night.

Citizens in the Wasatch County municipality are voting whether or not to approve the Town Council’s decision last fall to incorporate 350 acres located in Summit County near Richardson Flat.

Town Clerk Alicia Fairbourne said there are about 360 registered voters in Hideout.     As of mid-Monday, they have received 189 ballots.

Fairbourne said they are verifying signatures, but have not opened the ballots.

She said the tally will be done in the Wasatch County Clerk’s office.   Fairbourne said the unofficial results will be posted on the city’s website probably between 9:30 and 10 o’clock.

Fairbourne said the tally is being done at the county offices, in part because their vote counters are from the Heber area, and in part because the county’s signature verification system will allow them to count the ballots they have received on the 22nd.

The official count takes place on June 29th and will include mail-in or provisional ballots that haven’t been received by Tuesday.
