Campaign financial disclosure forms released by Park City Municipal this week revealed how much money candidates for mayor and city council have raised so far, and who’s doing the donating.
Ahead of the August 10th primary, all three of Park City’s candidates for mayor have raised over $30,000 in campaign funds.
According to financial records, incumbent Mayor Andy Beerman has raked in the most money to date with $39,700, City Councilor Nann Worel has amassed $30,600, and businessman David Dobkin’s campaign funds total $30,500.
Beerman has spent $8,600 of his funds, Worel $13,800, and Dobkin $24,500.
Beerman and Worel are two of the most well-known public figures in Park City, while Dobkin only recently moved to Park City full-time. Dobkin told KPCW he has considered himself a part-time Park City resident for the past decade.
The candidates’ name recognition is also reflected in their funding sources, with Beerman and Worel both soliciting contributions from other well-known figures.
Beerman’s notable donors include $1,000 from former Utah Democratic Congressman Ben McAdams and his wife, Julie, $500 from Ski Utah CEO Nathan Rafferty, $500 from Summit County Councilor Chris Robinson, and $100 from former Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker.
Beerman also received two $10,000 donations from local restaurateurs JC and Lily Martinez, and David Van Debburgh, who is a second home owner in Old Town.
Notable contributors to Worel’s campaign include $5,000 from restaurateur and Park City Planning Commissioner John Kenworthy, $1,000 from former State Senate candidate Jack Rubin, and $100 from Summit County Councilor Glen Wright.
Worel also received $5,000 from Jim and Kathy Bartimus, who are family friends of Worel from Missouri.
In contrast, Dobkin has contributed over $26,000 of his own money to his campaign. Beerman has invested $250 in his campaign and according to the reports, Worel has not invested any.
One of the three candidates will be eliminated from contention after the primary.
In the race for two city council seats, local business owner Tana Toly topped fundraising with nearly $10,000 raised so far. According to her disclosure form, her campaign has spent over $9,500 of that money ahead of the primary and Toly has contributed $1,450 of her own money.
Notable donors to Toly’s campaign include total donations of $2,000 from Kenworthy, $1,500 from Parkites Mary and Charlie Wintzer, as well as a total of $2,350 from several local businesses including Red Banjo Pizza, which Toly co-owns.
Business Consultant Jeremy Rubell has also raised over $8,600 so far and his campaign has spent more than $8,500. He has contributed $3,200 of his own money.
Rubell received $100 from retiring City Councilor Steve Joyce, who publicly endorsed him in June, as well as $500 each from the No Name Saloon, Butcher’s Chop House, and The Boneyard restaurants.
Among other city council candidates, Thomas Purcell has raised $5,000, Jamison Brandi $2,100, Michael Franchek has invested $400 of his money, Tim Henney $1,500, John Greenfield $2,000, and Daniel Lewis $1,000.

The August 10th primary will reduce the eight-person city council field to four. Ballots must be postmarked by August 9th or dropped off by the 10th.
The municipal election for mayor and city council is scheduled for November 2nd.
