Summit County reported another COVID-19 death Sunday.
The Summit County man who died of COVID-19 was between 65-84 years-old and wasn’t hospitalized at the time of his death. This is the first reported death in the county in more than a month. The county has now seen 14 total COVID-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
The Summit County man was one of eight deaths reported Sunday, but the Utah Department of Health noted seven of the deaths happened before May 27. To date, almost 2,400 Utahns have died due to COVID-19.
The state department of health reported roughly 6,000 more vaccinations Sunday. Utah has administered more than 2.8 million vaccines.
In Summit County, 87% of eligible residents have received at least one dose. The county has administered more than 56,000 total vaccines. And in Wasatch County, 57% of eligible residents have received at least one dose. Wasatch has given out almost 29,000 doses.
After a slight spike in cases in Summit County last week, the county reported three new cases Sunday. In comparison, last Sunday the county saw four.
Meanwhile in Wasatch County, the health department reported seven new cases, the highest daily increase since June 7.
The Utah Department of Health announced 282 new COVID-19 cases statewide Sunday, which is around 30 more cases than the state saw at the same time last week. The seven-day rolling average of new cases is now 335 per day, up from last week’s average of 294.
