Tuesday COVID-19 Update: 358 Cases Statewide, 6 In Summit County, 1 in Wasatch

Utah saw a significant increase in COVID-19 cases week over week Tuesday.

 

 

  

The Utah Department of Health announced 358 COVID-19 cases, which is nearly 60 more cases than the state saw at the same time last week. The 7-day rolling average for new cases is 406 per day, up almost 20 from last week. 

In the Wasatch Back, Summit County reported six new cases. In comparison last Tuesday the county saw five.

Wasatch County reported one new case - which is three fewer cases than the county saw last Tuesday.  

There were 5,683 people tested for the first time statewide, with 15,222 total tests administered. On average just under 4% of “tests over tests” are coming back positive, while the average percent positivity for “people over people” is nearing 8%. 

Utah’s Department of Health reported two new deaths. To date, 2,161 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including 11 from Summit County and 21 from Wasatch County.

The department also reported 34 new hospitalizations. There are 124 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Around 67% of all referral center ICU beds are in use.

There were 30,001 people vaccinated for COVID-19 since Monday, bringing the total number to 1,738,003 doses administered. 

Summit County has administered 36,227 total vaccines and Wasatch has given out 18,490 doses. Both counties are registering to vaccinate residents 16 years or older. 

Both Summit and Wasatch Counties are in the moderate level of Utah’s COVID-19 transmission index
