Wasatch County Health Department States Support Of Governor's COVID-19 Prevention Measures

Wasatch County Health Department

Wasatch County Manager and Wasatch County Health Director issued a joint statement Friday morning regarding COVID-19 prevention made by Governor Gary Herbert at his press conference on Thursday afternoon.

The agencies announced their support of recommendations presented by Governor Herbert.

The Wasatch County statements said as local leaders, they encourage the citizens of Wasatch County to review and follow the Governor’s recommendations, particularly social distancing and proven hygiene practices.

They also urge informed, fact-based and well-reasoned approaches to this and all other public matters.

Although there are currently no cases of COVID-19 identified in Wasatch County, the county said they recognize the serious potential that exists.

The county is actively monitoring the situation and working with public and private partners to mitigate the spread of this disease in our community.

Some of the Governor’s recommendations include limiting mass gatherings of more than 100 people if everyone in the group is healthy. If you are older than 60 or immunocompromised you should limit your participation in groups of more than 20 at a time, businesses that can support tele-work are encouraged to do so, K-12 schools are open for now, but schools are encouraged to prepare for the possibility to close.

The county also recommended residents look to their website Coronavirus.Wasatch.Utah.Gov . The website includes current numbers of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Wasatch County, as of Friday afternoon that number is zero.
