PCHS engineering teacher Brad Gannon and PCCAPS student Jackson Carlson talk about building a road-worthy electric vehicle from the ground up with support from Switch Labs.
The project, funded by a $1.4 billion national grant, started in August and involves five students learning hands-on electrical and mechanical engineering.
The vehicle, based on a Volkswagen Beetle frame, uses 32 lithium batteries and can be licensed as a motorcycle. Challenges include wiring, brake systems, and high-voltage components. The team aims to complete the vehicle by mid-June, with potential future adjustments.
