As part of the largest striping project in state history, UDOT will replace lane markings on portions of freeways with wider lines.
The contrast striping, also known as “tiger tail” striping, lays down a white line followed by a black line to make lanes easier to see. It also helps autonomous vehicle sensors and cameras recognize the lines.
In 2024, UDOT added new contrast striping to more than 6 million feet of road in Utah, Salt Lake, Davis and Tooele counties..
This year the focus is on interstates, state routes and major corridors in Summit, Wasatch, Tooele, Davis, Salt Lake and Utah counties.
The Wasatch Back portions include U.S. 40 through Park City and Heber and Interstate 80 from Park City to Coalville.
Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change. For the latest construction traffic visit the UDOT Traffic website.
