UDOT crews closed a portion of Guardsman Pass Road for a two-phase repaving project.

Crews with the Utah Department of Transportation will begin the second phase of the Guardsman Pass pavement project Monday.

The repaving will occur between the winter gate and pass overlook. The road will be closed to all traffic, including bikes.

The two-phase project will create a smoother ride for drivers and bikers on the roughly two-mile pass in upper Big Cottonwood Canyon.

The road will be closed from Aug. 19 to Aug. 22.
