The Willow Creek Pond opened to skaters on Dec. 11 but closed Jan. 1 due to unfavorable weather.

The Willow Creek pond opened to skaters on Dec. 11 but closed Jan. 1 due to unfavorable weather.

The Willow Creek pond is closed until further notice as crews wait for the ice to harden.

Basin Rec. said unfavorable weather conditions like wet snow can insulate the top layer of ice and melt it.

The pond opened on Dec. 11 but closed on Jan. 1 after crews deemed the ice unsafe. Crews will continue to monitor the pond and test for safety.
