Hideout is a relatively new town that sits east of the Jordanelle Reservoir.

The interim mayor will fill the seat for the rest of 2025 after former mayor Phil Rubin resigned due to health issues last month.

Interested residents must submit their names to town recorder Alicia Fairbourne by 5 p.m. Thursday, May 8.

Candidates are required to share any conflicts of interest and fill out a financial disclosure form. They must have lived in Hideout for at least a year and be registered to vote in the town.

The town council will have a special session Monday, May 12, at 6 p.m. to interview the candidates and select someone to fill the role.

Hideout voters will choose the next mayor in November’s election, and that person will take over the role in January 2026. Locals can declare their candidacy for the four-year term during the first week of June.
