Jonathan Lee Croft took the keys to a used Porsche from Heber’s Karl Malone dealership at 255 South Main Street after hours on Jan. 15, according to Heber police.
His short drive ended in a crash that caused $30,000 in damage to the car and another $5,000 in property damage. Heber police could not confirm the location of the crash.
Police say Croft then returned the damaged Porsche to the dealership.
Ten days later, on Jan. 25, the dealership’s general manager told Heber police the employee, Croft, arrived at work drunk and had threatened him.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the manager asked Croft if he was there to pay for the damages, and Croft got upset. He allegedly took off his jacket and tried to start a fight.
Police arrived at the dealership to find Croft unconscious in his car. Open liquor bottles and a loaded handgun were found in the car as well.
He was arrested on suspicion of burglary, for entering the dealership after hours; driving under the influence; property damage and illegally having a weapon, among other offenses.
Croft faces seven charges in 4th District Court, including three felony charges and four misdemeanors.
He’s being held without bail in the Wasatch County Jail.
