Thank You to All Who Supported Us

Last week the greater Park City and Heber Valley communities came together as they do every six months and responded to KPCW’s call to donate to our community radio station.  Few communities our size in America have a locally focused station like ours, and we are humbled and inspired by the community’s response whenever we have this crazy pledge week.

We received 778 calls and over $100,000 in pledges.  This level of support is necessary to meet our budget, which is spent almost exclusively on local content and content providers like our great news and public affairs staff.

A special thank you goes out to all the amazing volunteers who helped pull off the drive: from the dozens of folks who were in the frenzy of taking calls and writing down information 'super-duper clearly' to Lynn Young, Joan Agnetta, Tina smith, Michaela Wilkison and Rebecca Johnson, who took all that unwashed information and made it into thank you letters. Marlene Peacock was an exceptional COO of our pledge room every afternoon - again.

A special thank you to the staff and board of KPCW. Every staff person stepped up and helped with pitching on the air, acting as pastry couriers and/or troubleshooting when the inevitable process goes awry. It is truly a team effort, every time.

Special thanks to the Queens of Pledge Drive: Ethel Preston, Monika Guendner and led by Cindy Kaiser. Needless to say, Pledge Drive would not happen without you here.

KPCW is being recognized nationally for the level of service we provide.  For the second year in a row we’ve been nominated for the Marconi Award as “Noncommercial Station of the Year” by the National Association of Broadcasters.  The award, the “Oscar” of broadcasting, is national recognition that what is happening on the air here is something special.  While most of the industry automates and sounds the same coast to coast, we remain relentlessly focused on localism, right down to reporting your lost cat.

Thank you on behalf of the whole staff and board of trustees for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Bob Richer, Chairman
