Park City Mayor Candidates Campaign Finance Reports

If the amount of money in this year’s Park City mayor’s race is any indication, it’s serious. With just a few more days to the primary election, Leslie Thatcher reports on the first of the required campaign finance returns.

Two of the three candidates for Park City mayor have raised more than 20-thousand dollars so far. The third – though isn’t far behind.

The first financial disclosures were due Tuesday  - more than two weeks after voters received their mail-in ballots.

Candidates are required to list the names of all contributors who have made a contribution of 50-dollars or more. While they don’t have to list the names of anyone making a contribution of $49 or less, the total amount of those collections must be reported.

Right now, Andy Beerman leads the way in dollars collected. He reports a campaign chest of almost 23-thousand dollars which includes  almost a thousand dollars from restauranteur Bill White for in kind services for the website and video production and another 12-hundred dollars from Pam Beverly for in-kind services for graphic design.

Beerman – who ran for mayor against Jack Thomas in 2013- was heavily outspent four years ago – when Thomas raised nearly 54-thousand dollars – the most amount ever raised in a Park City municipal election. Beerman spent more than 18-thousand dollars in that race.

Beerman’s biggest contributions include 5-thousand dollar contributions from Park city residents Dick and Susan Roth and Ben and Paige Anderson. He also received 25-hundred from local Don Hendricks another 25-hundred from Mike Mueller of Scottsdale, AZ. Beerman had spent  just more than 55 hundred dollars as of the date of the filing.

Roger Armstrong reports collection $20,400 so far. 2-thousand of that ins from in-kind services from Jane Burns for a gathering at the  restaurant, Twisted Fern. Notably, all of Armstrong’s big donors come from outside the Park City city limits – who live in the 84098 zip code. He lists four – one thousand dollar contributions from those living in the Snyderville Basin – who can’t vote in this election. Armstrong’s biggest contribution, for $4-thousand dollars came from a friend in Santa Clara, Utah, Another 25-hundred dollars came from a Texas corporation.

Armstrong had spent more than 15-thousand dollars as of the filing.

Park City resident Mike Worrel – the husband of council member Nann Worrel  - contributed 250-dollars to both Armstrong and Beerman.

Former mayor Dana Williams reports collecting just more than 17-thousand dollars – most of that – about 13-thousand dollars - as in kind contributions from the No Name Saloon and the Boneyard Saloon.  Williams has collected the most amount from donors giving less than the 50-dollar reporting threshold for a total of $825. Williams biggest contributor is John Davis of Park City for a thousand dollars. He also reports two 500-dollar contributions from Park City residents Herb Armstrong and Ray Johnson – a former city council member.

The next campaign finance statement from those who make it through the primary is Tuesday, October 31st.  ** See  all original filing forms in the slide show.
