The People’s Health Clinic provides health care services to uninsured residents in Summit and Wasatch Counties. The Healthy Laughs fundraising event is coming up later in August with an evening of laughter and socializing at The Chateaux Deer Valley. Carolyn Murray has this: People’s Health Clinic Executive Director, Beth Armstrong says the event can accommodate 400 people but with a few weeks to go they have just 30 tickets left. She says last year they sold out and had lots of people on the wait list. They hope to raise $61,000.00 this year.
“Rocky LaPort is coming back and Rocky was the winner of the last comic standing and he was with us at a Healthy Laughs about 5 years ago. And he was requested back because everyone just loved him. He probably was to date our best act that we’ve had. Our headliner will be Bill Engvall who is not only a Glenwild resident but is also a world-renowned comedian and just a really philanthropic guy who has agreed to come on and help us with this fundraiser. We can’t thank him enough. It’s a big deal to have Bill coming on.”
Southeby’s Cares helps to underwrite the event this year. Representing Summit Southeby’s International Realty, Whitney Olch says her organization gives to about 60 non-profits in the community and last year they had 100 percent of their realtors giving financial support to the Southbey’s Cares foundation.
“I mean it varies year to year based on the market but we have given away over $600,000.00 since we started Southeby’s Cares in 2010.”
The Healthy Laughs fundraiser is August 31st at The Chateaux Deer Valley. Social hour starts at 6 p.m. with a cash bar and appetizers. The comedy show starts at 7:30. For tickets, go to the People’sHealthClinic.org or call Beth Armstrong at 435-333-1850.
