Park Meadows Welcomes New Director Of Golf

Park Meadows Country Club

Park Meadows has a new Director of Golf and he’s a familiar face in the local golf scene.

Park Meadows Country Club has a new Director of Golf in Eric Johnson. Johnson explained his most recent position was at a resort in Mexico.

“Golf has been really good to me,” Johnson said. “I’ve had a chance to go all over. I came back to Park City from a job I had in Cabo San Lucas. I was the head golf professional at a vacation club called Diamante, great spot. Two golf courses, one of them was designed by Tiger Woods the other one is rated in the top 50 in the world. I went down there hoping to become a better professional and prepare myself for opportunities back home and low and behold job opportunity came up here in Park Meadows. I was thrilled to come back home. I’m from here so bringing my wife, who’s also a Utah native, back home was a great feeling too.”

Johnson has also worked in professional positions at resorts in Australia and Oregon as well as at the Glenwild Golf Club here in Park City. Johnson explains his vision for Park Meadows.

“The golf staff is there to make the golf experience that much better,” Johnson explained. “Now that we’ve got the clubhouse and the pool and all the materials here in place obviously the golf course is still great; the golf staff just needs to rise to the occasion and meet the standards that have been set with our facilities with the customer service aspect as well.”

Park Meadows doesn’t have any big changes slated for the near future.

“It’s a little bit early for me to tell,” Johnson continued. “I started just about two or three weeks ago so still getting my feet underneath me. A lot of the tournament programming from the last couple of years are still in place. The marquee event is a couple of invitational tournaments. The men’s is called the Kemosabi and the lady’s event is called the Silver Queen. Those are two that I’m going to give a lot of my attention to. Hoping to see maybe a little bit more of our junior golf programming. Get some of our up and coming future members out there working on their game.”

Johnson is a PGA member, Trackman certified golf instructor and studied communications at the University of Utah.

“I’d like to say to the membership of Park Meadows that I’m grateful for the opportunity,” Johnson said. “I’m happy to be here, and excited to represent the club. To Park City at large, I’m grateful to be a part of this community as well. Feels good to be an ambassador of the club that’s right here in Park City proper. Being part of a lot of different neat events is something that I’m really excited about.”
