The 1960’s rock band, then called, The Young Rascals and now named, Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals is bringing their show to the Egyptian Theater starting Thursday.

The Young Rascals rock and roll band came together in 1965. And now, as the years have gone by, they’ve transitioned to Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals. Cavaliere says fans identify with the name recognition.

“People know us from our name as well as from our music. So, it makes it a little easier to know who’s playing, you know? We didn’t have in those old days, the MTV spotlight. We had a few Television shows you know. Ed Sullivan, Hullabaloo, Shindig. So, you know the presence is actually from the name.”

They’re still playing their top 40 hits like Good Loving and I’ve been Lonely Too Long. Cavaliere says they will play their hits each night, but he says they also take queues from their audience.

“We really have a good time. We try to create an atmosphere like that was around in the old days. You know where everybody was singing together and dancing together and having a good time. That’s what I try to do on stage. We’ll definitely do the hits but as I say, I put a lot of things int here to include the audience. And, I look at their eyes and their faces from the stage and they light up. So, I make them sing a little bit.”

Cavaliere does about 50 shows a year which he says is about his limit. He sings and plays the keyboard and organ.

“You know, our group was known for it’s singing and it’s musicianship, so I’ve got some great musicians from Nashville, Tennessee which is where I live now. And, like I say, we just have a good time.”

Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals performs at the Egyptian Thursday through Sunday. Shows start at 8 except for Sunday when showtime is 6 P.M.
