Miners Football Ready To Host Snow Canyon Warriors This Friday At 5:00

Park City Miners football defeated Logan High School 20-0 Friday evening, now the Miners are preparing for a quarterfinal matchup on Friday.

The Miners were led by two rushing touchdowns from senior running back Dylan Bauer. Bauer's two touchdowns and a made extra point gave the Miners a 13-0 lead going into halftime.

In the 2nd half senior receiver Mark McCurdy also scored on a jet sweep play to extend the Miners lead to 20, while the defense held the Logan Grizzlies to zero points on the day. Coach Josh Montzingo was pleased with the Miners efforts.

“Felt very good about it,” Montzingo continued. “It was a nice dominating performance on defense especially. Offensively we ran the ball kind of at will which was nice against a team that was twice our size. So, I thought we had played a pretty complete game. Maybe left a couple of scores out there but otherwise very proud of those guys and their effort.”

The win advanced the Miners to the quarterfinals they’ll host 9th seed Snow Canyon High School on Friday.

“They’re a solid team,” Montzingo explained. “They have a lot of good athletes all over the field. They have good speed, great size, you know they're well coached. They definitely have a lot of tools and weapons to play with. We'll have our hands full defending them and working with our offense against them as well.”

The game will take place Friday at 5:00 pm. If the Miners win, they’ll advance to the semi-finals the following weekend where they’ll play at Rice Eccles Stadium on the University of Utah campus.

“Thanks again for everybody coming out and supporting us,” Montzingo said. “We’d love to see a big crowd out there as we have a big game this week.”

If you can’t make it to the game KPCW will broadcast the game and every game the Miners play this post-season.
