UDOT Says Plan Ahead For Thanksgiving Travel Delays

UDOT is advising holiday travelers to plan ahead for the Thanksgiving Weekend.

The Utah Department of Transportation, or UDOT, engineers are expecting thirty-minute delays on I-15 on Wednesday and 15-minute delays on Sunday.

UDOT says traffic is expected to be heaviest on I-15 Wednesday between 2:00 and 7:00 pm with snowstorms likely to be falling throughout the state. On Sunday after Thanksgiving delays will be heaviest from 3:00 to 7:00 pm.

UDOT is reminding drivers to check their tire tread, test lights and battery, keep you windows clean and pack an emergency kit with blankets, jumper cables, food and water and a cell phone charger.

Most UDOT projects will suspend construction and open lanes to traffic to reduce delays although drivers should use caution as some existing lane restrictions or traffic shifts will remain in place where needed to protect the work zone and ensure safety.
