Annual Leadership 101 Event Takes Place This Friday

The 23rd Leadership 101 Session is back this Friday.

The one-day Leadership 101 program features presentations from a variety of groups including officials from Park City, Summit County, local chambers and nonprofits.

Park City Leadership Coordinator Myles Rademan describes it as a firehose leadership course.

“The Mayor is going to speak, and the county council is going to speak, I think Doug Clyde will represent that, and the school board,” Rademan continued. “We have a couple of panels coming up on development and not only Park City and Summit County, but also in Wasatch County and Extell, and we have a real estate update by the border of Realtors. Mike Goar will be speaking on behalf of the ski industry and then I have Tiger Shaw and Colin Hilton speaking about our Olympic future and what we're doing to prepare for that. Finally, we end off with a panel of nonprofits that Lynn Ware Peek will moderate. So, it's a really interesting day and a lot of information.”

Leadership 101 is held at the Park City Hospital in the Blair education center from 8:30-4:00. Rademan says even if you’ve come before it’s worth coming again as he says each year is different.

“We’ve heard from past experience when we do a debrief that this is really a very important day for a lot of people,” Rademan explained. “Frontline people, Realtors, people who work in the hospitality industry, or just interested citizens because we've always said that hospitality starts with people knowing what's going on in the communities that they live and work in. So, this is a great opportunity to do that and there's very few opportunities where we gather such a diverse group of community decision makers, leaders, elected officials, in one place at one time. To just sort of give you the whole story and people walk out with a much better sense of what's going on in the greater Park City area.”

Registration is $40 and covers lunch and snacks at the event. You can register by emailing or calling Minda Stockdale, her number is 615-5186.

Leadership Park City also hosts a free Leadership Community Lecture. This year Rusty Gregory the Managing Partner of Alterra will speak to the community on March 15th.

KPCW reporter David Boyle covers all things in the Heber Valley as well as sports and breaking news.
