It’s time once again for the annual Park City Leadership 101 seminar. Leadership Program Director Myles Rademan said it’s a chance for locals to get a “firehose of information” about local leaders, the issues facing us, and the possibilities for our future.
Rademan said it’s the 22nd year for the seminar, which will take place this Wednesday, February 6th at the Park City Hospital’s Blair Education Center, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
He had this rundown of what’s in store.
“We’re going to hear from Government officials including our Mayor, our city manager we’re going to hear from county officials. We’re going to hear from nonprofits, we’re going to hear from the chamber bureau. We’ll hear about our Olympic bid from Collin Hilton. We’re going to hear about all the development, I was just talking with my good friend Pat Putt and he’s going to be speaking along with the Mayor of Heber, Mrs. Potter and also Doug Smith the Wasatch County Planner. So we’re really looking at a much more regional approach to it this year. Because the development is affecting all of us. Then we’ll be hearing about arts and culture and about the new arts culture center that we’re building and certainly about transportation and affordable housing.”
The event also delves into Social Equity.
“We’ll end up the day, and it’s a long day a lot of things that are going on, but Diego Zegarra will be moderating a panel about what does social equity really mean here? So we’re going to have representatives with a number of the nonprofits that we think deal with social equity issues.”
Rademan said the seminar will also look back at Park City’s history.
“People find that interesting, a little bit about our mining history and how we got to be where we are now. Certainly, about our last Olympic effort in 2002. Many people who show up were not here in 2002, which we look back is 17 years ago now. So it’s pretty amazing and its fun but I think we have a real good shot for 2030. People will see what we did then and why we did it and hopefully get jazzed up for it.”
