Alterra Mountain Company, owner of Deer Valley Resort, announced Saturday it will suspend operations at all of its 15 North American ski resorts starting Sunday, March 15.
All lift operations, food and beverage, retail and rental services will be closed until further notice.
Rusty Gregory, Chief Executive Officer of Alterra, said the decision was the company's "duty in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak," and he believed the decision was "in the best interest of our guests, employees and local communities."
Gregory said each resort will work directly with guests in canceling their visit and will provide refunds to those who have hotel and other bookings during the closure period. He asked for guests' patience as the company responds to inquiries.
In a release sent to employees later that day, Deer Valley confirmed they would be paying employees for work during the next week. Human resources also said they would be in contact with workers.
Earlier Saturday, Vail Resorts announced it was closing all of its North American resorts, including Park City Mountain, from March 15 - March 22nd.
