Saturday COVID-19 Update: Summit County 27 Cases, Wasatch County 29 as Trends Continue Down

The Utah Department of Health reported that the state’s COVID-19 statistics continued to decline on Saturday, including those in Summit and Wasatch County.

Saturday’s 1,468 new statewide cases drop the statewide rolling seven-day average of positive tests to 1,509, the lowest average since mid-October of last year.

The statewide average of positive laboratory tests continued to fall as well and now at an even 18%.

Numbers in Summit and Wasatch Counties also continued to decline with Summit County reporting 27 cases to Wasatch County’s 29.

The Health Department reports that 430 Utahns are currently hospitalized with the disease, down 16 from Friday. Statewide referral center ICU capacity remains high, however, at 89.1%.

Eight more statewide deaths were also reported on Saturday, bringing the statewide COVID-19 death toll to 1,636. None of Saturday’s deaths were from either Summit or Wasatch Counties.

As of Saturday, over 300,000 doses of the vaccine have also been administered in Utah.
