Friday COVID-19 Update: Three More Utah Deaths, Seven Cases in Summit County, Two in Wasatch County


The Utah Department of Health reported three more statewide deaths on Friday, while other state and local numbers continued to trend in the right direction.


The three deaths reported on Friday were all individuals between the ages of 45 and 64. None were from either Summit or Wasatch County. Friday’s deaths brings the total number of Utahns who have died from COVID-19 to 2,091. To date, 11 people have died in Summit County, 21 in Wasatch County.


453 new cases of the disease were reported statewide, dropping the rolling seven-day average of positive tests to 418 per day, down one from Thursday.


Summit County reported seven new cases, Wasatch County reported only two.


The statewide averages for the percent of positive laboratory tests remained virtually unchanged, with the people-over-people average dropping two-tenths of a percent to 7.4% and the tests-over-tests average holding steady at 3.8%.


130 Utahns are currently hospitalized with the disease, down four from Thursday. COVID-19 referral center ICUs are now 73.5% full.


Over 29,000 vaccines were administered over the last 24 hours and over 1.2 million doses have been administered statewide.


The Summit County Health Department says 55% of people living in the county have received at least one dose of the vaccine. Wasatch County reports 5,234 people have been fully vaccinated.
