Park City Mayor Andy Beerman Says He Intends to Run For Second Term

Park City Mayor Andy Beerman told KPCW Friday morning that he intends to run for a second term as the city’s highest elected official.

Beerman had previously only indicated that he was “strongly leaning toward” seeking a second term as Mayor, but told KPCW he now intends to run for reelection.

“I really didn’t want to start campaigning at the start of the year, so I told folks I was strongly leaning towards it, but yes, very soon here I will be making a formal announcement,” he said. ”I’ve been talking to a lot of folks, getting a lot of encouragement, so I do plan to run again, that’s what the announcement will say.”

Beerman took office in 2018 after a successful campaign following the retirement of one-term Mayor Jack Thomas. He previously served as a city councilor starting in 2012 and first ran for mayor in 2013. Beerman was ultimately defeated by Thomas in that election.

Beerman came to Park City in the early 90s and he and his Wife, Thea Leonard, previously owned and operated the Treasure Mountain Inn on Park City’s Main Street before selling the business in 2017.

In addition to Mayor, two city council seats currently held by Tim Henney and Steve Joyce will also be on the ballot this November. Henney has said he intends to run for a third term on the council and Joyce announced in March that he will be stepping down after one term in office.

The window for candidates to officially file election paperwork with the city runs from June 1st-7th. Information on how to run for office in Park City can be found here.
