Guardsman Pass Fully Open For The Season

Utah Department of Transportation

Guardsman Pass is fully open for the season.

Every year the road connecting Park City to Wasatch County and Big Cottonwood Canyon closes for the winter season. The road is normally opened sometime in June, but after a lighter than normal snow season, Utah Department of Transportation opened the gates early.

Last week UDOT took the locks off the gates to Guardsman Pass in Park City and Midway, and the rest of the road opened Wednesday.

UDOT estimated the gates would be fully open Memorial Day weekend, but they were able to clear the road a few days in advance. A Tweet from UDOT advised drivers to watch for crews working on the road Wednesday.

Mirror Lake Highway - S.R. 150 - is partially open as well. Drivers can take the road from Kamas to the area near Trail Lake. The rest of the highway is expected to open in Mid-June.
