Jeremy Ranch Elementary School is named as #35 elementary school in Utah

Park City School District

U.S. News and World Report has named Jeremy Ranch Elementary School as one of Utah’s best elementary schools in 2021.

According to the report, Jeremey Ranch came in at number 35 of Utah’s 609 elementary schools and at the top of the Park City School District’s four elementary schools.

U.S. News ranks schools based on their performance on state-required tests, and how well they prepare their students for high school.

69% of students at Jeremy scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 66% scored at or above that level for reading.

That compares to the district average of 58% in reading and 60% proficient in math.

More than 79% of Jeremy Ranch Elementary’s population is white, with nearly 16% Hispanic. 15% of the school’s population is considered economically disadvantaged.

In a prepared statement, Park City School District Superintendent Jill Gildea said the staff at Jeremy Ranch is proud to have earned such a top honor. She added that the faculty and students at the school are extraordinary and regularly go the extra mile to ensure students are flourishing inside and outside of the classroom.

The publication introduced its first-ever rankings of K-8 schools this year, which compared student academics within the context of their state and demographics.

Rankings are based heavily on math and reading proficiency results from the 2018-19 school year, so they don’t reflect the pandemic’s impact on learning.

Unlike the rankings of its high school report, U.S. News did not put out national rankings of the elementary and middle school institutions.
