Mountain areas below 8,000 feet, like Park City, could see 4 to 8 inches of snow by Monday. Up to a foot is possible at higher elevations.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue for the Wasatch Back into next week.

ABC4 Meteorologist Cedric Haynes said a strong storm system will hit parts of Utah over the weekend.

“A deep area of low pressure will move in, bringing us another good chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms across the area,” he said.

Parkites participating in Running with Ed Saturday can expect chilly temperatures with a chance of rain. Haynes said Park City will see highs in the low 60s with thunderstorms possible in the afternoon.

A cold front will cross Utah Sunday morning into Monday evening turning rain to snow.

The National Weather Service reports a couple hours of moderate to heavy snowfall above 7,000 feet are possible, mainly south of Interstate 80.

Another round of fresh powder is expected through Monday night.

Mountain areas below 8,000 feet, like Park City, could see 4 to 8 inches of snow. Mountain areas above 8,000 feet may get up to a foot.

Haynes said the Wasatch Back will see a drying and warming trend starting Tuesday.
