Park City residents are happy about public safety, recreation access and open space preservation, according to a new survey. Residents remain concerned about traffic congestion, housing affordability and growth.

Park City recently took part in the National Community Survey (NCS), a community-wide assessment analyzing several quality of life components like safety, economy, governance and environmental quality.

Survey responses were collected between November 2024 and January 2025. The results are based on a statistically valid sample of nearly 300 households in the 84060 zip code, along with an additional 400 responses through an online survey.

About 94% of respondents rated Park City’s quality of life as excellent or good.

Safety and related services received strong marks from residents, along with recreation and educational and cultural opportunities. High-performing areas also included cleanliness and open space preservation.

Mobility issues, specifically traffic signal timing, street repairs and the ease of car travel, saw positive ratings decline by over 10% when compared to Park City’s 2022 NCS survey results.

But there was resident support for Park City’s public transit system, along with biking and walking options.

When compared with 2022 responses, Parkites were also less satisfied with government performance, including acting in the best interest of the community, honesty, welcoming resident involvement and the value of services relative to taxes paid.

Almost 40% of respondents rated the overall direction that Park City is taking as excellent or good.

The survey report notes recent political polarization at the national level, particularly in the wake of the 2024 election, may have influenced residents’ perceptions of local government.

“Park City remains a place where people feel safe, connected to nature, and proud and protective of their quality of life,” Park City Mayor Nann Worel said in a statement. “At the same time, we recognize that people all across the nation feel distant from government, and our results reflect national trends. I remain committed – as your Mayor – to building trust, improving transparency, and showing up for this community in meaningful ways and having difficult conversations with civility, trust, and patience.”

The perception of the overall economic health of the city and the availability of affordable housing has also decreased compared to 2022.

The Park City Library received a near-unanimous 98% positive rating, while the police department earned 88%. Park City government’s customer service also received an 88% positive rating.
