In this episode of The Mountain Life Pete and Lynn speak with Qian Julie Wang who has written a memoir called Beautiful Country. Wang writes about her and her parents fleeing political and cultural persecution in China, being a 7-year old with no English at school in a new country and surviving as an undocumented immigrant in America. Now a Yale Law School graduate, Wang shares her story.
Then local health and yoga practitioner with a twist - Lauren Lockey, joins the show to talk about how she combines her practice with saving animals at Sage Mountain Sanctuary where they provide shelter and advocacy for rescued farm animals.
And finally Bill Eddy, co-founder of the High Conflict Institute and author of CALMING UPSET PEOPLE WITH E.A.R.: How Statements Showing Empathy, Attention, and Respect Can Quickly Defuse a Conflict. This is especially helpful when you are dealing with someone who is really upset – possibly they are angry with you or someone else or they are sad, feeling helpless, or frightened.
