The Utah Department of Health reported eight more COVID-19 deaths on Saturday, but saw state and county infection numbers the lowest since late summer and early fall of last year.
Saturday’s eight deaths brings the statewide death toll from the disease to 1,842. None of Saturday’s deaths were from either Summit or Wasatch Counties.
The Health Department reported 778 new cases of the disease, further dropping the seven day average of positive tests to 779.
Summit County reported seven new cases, while Wasatch County reported five. Summit County’s seven-day average for positive tests is 11. Wasatch County’s is 10.
The statewide rolling 7-day average for people over people tests is 13.52%. The average of tests over tests is 6.12%. Both measurements have remained relatively stable this week.
The Health Department says there are currently 242 Utahns hospitalized with the disease, 13 fewer than Friday. Statewide COVID-19 referral center ICU beds are now 81.3% full.
As of Saturday, over 598,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered with 200,000 people receiving their second and final dose.
