Plans for a schedule power outage in Summit Park on Tuesday were cancelled.
Rocky Mountain Power had scheduled the outage for Tuesday in order to do some needed maintenance in the area. Despite low temperatures predicted for the area the power company had planned to follow through with the outage up until early Tuesday morning. At that time, Summit Park residents received this phone message.
“Hello this is Rocky Mountain Power, calling to advise you get that the scheduled outage for today October 29th from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM has been cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience. Rocky Mountain Power will reschedule for a later time and will notify you of the change. Thank you.”
Rocky Mountain Power spokesperson Spencer Hall explains that the cancellation of the crossarm repair was not weather related, at least not directly.
“It ended up being an issue of competing priorities,” Hall explained. “There was some equipment that needed emergency repair elsewhere in that service territory area. So due to that other trouble call and then just the manpower issues they had to cancel it.”
Hall says the outage will still happen, and likely soon.
“These planned outages are to add reliability to the system so that when we have weather related incidents the system is ready to go,” Hall said. “So, it's really important that these things get done. They just have a lot of work to get done. So, they'll get to it as soon as they can. It'll probably be rescheduled for December or January.”
Hall expressed appreciation for patience of Rocky Mountain Power customers and that completing the maintenance remains a priority.
