Wasatch County saw two new COVID-19 related deaths Tuesday. Wasatch County has reported 11 deaths since the start of the pandemic and Summit has reported one.
Both of the Wasatch County residents who died of COVID-19 were between 65-85 years-old, and both were women. One was hospitalized at the time of death and the health department didn’t provide information about if the other woman was hospitalized or a long-term care facility resident.
Along with the two Wasatch County deaths, the state announced 9 other deaths — there have been 672 COVID-19 related deaths since the start of the pandemic in the state.
Utah also reported 2,517 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday. And the department of health reported 435 people in the hospital for COVID-19. This time last week there were 366 people hospitalized.
Summit County saw 18 new COVID-19 cases, and last Tuesday - for comparison - Summit reported 21 new infections.

And in Wasatch County, the health department reported 21 new cases, last Tuesday the county saw 30.

Summit County’s seven-day average of positive laboratory tests is currently at 19.9%, and 24.5% of tests are coming back positive in Wasatch County. The percent for positive test results in the state is 21.9%. Only a month ago, the state’s average of positive tests was 13.7%.
Under new health orders from Governor Gary Herbert, masks are required in all businesses and all social gatherings are limited to same households for the next two weeks.
