Vail Epic Promise Donates $3.1 Million To 36 Local Non-profits

The Vail Epic Promise Foundation gave out $3.1 million-dollars to Park City local non-profits Thursday night.  The selected organizations will receive either cash or in-kind donations. KPCW is one of the recipients of the grant program. Carolyn Murray has this:
Park City Mountain Chief Operations Officer, Bill Rock said the Epic Promise Foundation Grant event is his favorite night of the year.

“Yeah, this is great. This is a chance to award our Epic Promise Grants to our non-profits here in town. And, our grant committee is really happy and proud to be able to support the community this way. And, we’ll be giving out well over $3 million-3.1 million-dollars of cash and in kind…36 non-profits here in Park City. A lot of them are park City based. Summit County, Heber City, some of the non-profits that do work in the general area. Folks like Children’s Justice Center, PC Tots, Park City Community Foundation are some of the non-profits that we support in a big way.”

Rock said it is local employees who guide the grant distribution.

“We have a local giving council which is made up of 20 or 30 local employees, management, front-line staff who have background in non-profits. They volunteer, they have deep insight. Perhaps they serve on boards. So we review every single grant application, that group. We make all the decisions here locally. And, that’s how we decide who we’re going to support."

Park City has over a hundred non-profits and the list of recipients reflects a wide range of interests.

“I’m really appreciative of all the work the non-profits do in town. It’s just fun to be part of it. And it is my favorite night of the year to be able to do this. It’s just such a pleasure. I also want to say thanks to our employees to getting us off to just an amazing start to the season. We’re opening new terrain every single day and our employees are working hard. So, I hope if you haven’t skied yet, I hope you get out there.”

Rock said Vail has similar programs in all their mountain communities.

“So, this is our Epic Promise Foundation. This is company sponsored. Across the company, we give over $11.4 million dollars to 250 organizations. It is company-wide. It’s great we can focus those resources here locally in Park City.”
