Fresh Tracks Friday | May 9, 2025

Get ready for your weekly dose of musical discovery! This week, we feature brand new tracks from artists like Ed Sheeran, Grace Potter, The SteelDrivers, and many more. It's all right here and fresh on KPCW!

9 a.m. - A Brother's Fountain - Chipmunk
The music of A Brother's Fountain has been described as "campfire folk." It offers a refreshing take on indie folk and Americana, infusing their music with the raw authenticity of life's extraordinary moments. From rowdy anthems to reflective sing-alongs, their songs resonate with themes of nature, friendship, and the pursuit of adventure.

10 a.m. - Ed Sheeran - Old Phone
Ed Sheeran recently explained on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon the premise of this song. In 2015, he moved from using a phone to a tablet, switched the phone off and left it in a box. Because of a lawsuit, he had to get the phone out again for evidence. What he found was also old communication lines from lost friends, broken relationships, and such.

11 a.m. - Mihali - Going Home
Mihali has a new album out called "Before The Dream." Mihali says he believes 'music behaves much like a living being. It grows, it matures, and it changes with a sentient consciousness and with whims of its own.' You may recognize Mihali's sound, as he is also the singer, songwriter, guitarist, and co-founder of the band Twiddle. He's also been doing quite a bit of solo-work, like this one.

1 p.m. - Justin Lee - We Will Run
Justin Lee is a South African singer songwriter inspired by his childhood exploring Cape Town’s coastlines and mountains. He gets lost in the melody on his acoustic guitar…which you'll hear on this new single "We Will Run."

2 p.m. - GoldFord - Easy Does It
GoldFord is a singer-songwriter known for his soulful, emotive music that blends classic and modern pop and soul styles. GoldFord's musical journey is marked by a dedication to mental health and mindfulness education. He partners with organizations such as Whole School Mindfulness and Give to Give to address mental health issues and promote healing solutions.

3 p.m. - Grace Potter - Losing You
Grace Potter has a new/old album coming out titled "Medicine." It's a record she did with producer T. Bone Burnett way back in 2008, that for reasons, was not released at that time. The wait is over as the official release of "Medicine" is May 30th. It's described as "a powerhouse album that’s equal parts archival gem and thrilling new addition to her extraordinary catalog."

4 p.m. - Mimi Webb & Meghan Trainor - Mind Reader
Mimi Webb is a 24-year old, UK-artist with a slew of chart-topping hits. Here she teams up with singer songwriter Meghan Trainor, whose sound is all over this poppy track. Get your TikTok dances ready for this one!

5 p.m. - Sensamotion - The Ways (feat. The Hip Abduction)
Emerging from Atlantic City, New Jersey, Sensamotion has quickly established themselves as a rising force in the American reggae scene. At the heart of Sensamotion's music is a passion for connecting on the collective human experience, bringing people together through the language of music and harmony. On this Fresh Track they team up with The Hip Abduction for a beachy, wavy soft vibe.

6 p.m. - The SteelDrivers - Booze And Cigarettes
The band has been known for two decades for their blues-infused bluegrass sound, freewheeling and fun, rich with stories and singalongs alike. The SteelDrivers return to Park City on their 20th Anniversary Tour next fall with four nights at the iconic Egyptian Theatre October 22nd to 25th. They have a new album coming out soon titled "Outrun."

7 p.m. - Fat Mezz - Three Years and a Day
Get ready to rock a bit on this one from the band Fat Mezz, a band out of South Jersey who got their start playing clubs on the Jersey Shore. The band's name is a tribute to Milton "Mezz" Mezzrow, a jazz clarinetist and saxophonist, as well as an outspoken civil rights advocate. Infamously, he was also one of the most well-known marijuana dealers in the Chicago jazz community.

8 p.m. - DURRY - idk i just work here
DURRY is a band formed during the long stretch of homebound confinement during COVID. They will be at the Commonwealth Room in SLC on October 10th and they have a new album coming in late June. This is a funny song and something most of us can relate to from some point in our working life

9 p.m. - Dope Lemon - She's All Time (feat. Nina Nesbitt)
Dope Lemon is one of Australia's most celebrated indie artists. He was and is a member of the indie folk duo Angus & Julia Stone. For his solo project he adopted the name of Dope Lemon. This is one of the few songs off his new album "Golden Wolf" that is FCC-compliant, so check it out!

Christie is the producer of Fresh Tracks Friday and has been a valued member of the KPCW team since 2014.
