kelley.iu.edu/faculty-research/faculty-directory/profile

In 1999, Messod Daniel Beneish, professor of accounting at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business, published the Detection of Earnings Manipulation. The Beneish Model is a way one could analyze a company’s financial statements to see whether a company manipulated its earnings.

This mathematical model is used to uncover financial fraud and was recently used to determine how misrepresentation in financial statements affects the economy.
