That is more than double the projects completed in 2023.
The volunteers were part of the DWR’s Dedicated Hunter Program, a service-based initiative that in return allows participants more time to hunt deer each year.
Last year 8,800 volunteers completed the required 32 hours of DWR-approved service to qualify for the extended deer permits through the program.
Projects included improving wildlife habitat by planting seeds and shrubs.
They picked up trash in wildlife management areas and removed noxious weeds.
Volunteers also installed rain- and snow-catching devices to provide drinking water for wildlife.
