The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services has opened applications for 37 small retail liquor stores.

Also known as package agencies, the stores are mostly located in rural communities and operated through three-year contracts with the state.

Package agencies can sell packaged alcoholic beverages, similar to what is found at state liquor stores.

There are 37 package agency contracts available.

Applications are available in specific municipalities, including two Summit County towns: Coalville and Kamas. The agencies listed are already operational package agencies that have its 3-year contract coming to a close.

The stores can be a small liquor store or operated in conjunction with another business where the primary source of income is not from liquor sales.

Applications close March 10.
