Gov. Spencer Cox signed an executive order Wednesday to create the BUILD Coordinating Council.

“BUILD” stands for Blueprint for Utah’s Infrastructure, Land, and Development. It will work to meet growing demands for housing, transportation, water, energy, open space, recreation and air quality, while preserving Utahns’ quality of life.

The council will meet quarterly to identify statewide goals, review demographic and economic trends, resolve planning conflicts and enhance coordination across agencies and regions.

The council will be chaired by the state planning coordinator and include senior advisors and executive directors from numerous state agencies.

It will also work with research institutions, regional governments and community partners like the Salt Lake City-Utah Committee for the Games and the chamber of commerce.
