The district announced the new school would be called Iron Horse High back on Dec. 17.
Some families complained, citing issues with how the decision was handled.
After an outpouring of community feedback, and a petition signed by more than 700 residents urging the school board to reconsider its original choice, the district sent another survey to residents.
Tuesday, that vote was finalized and the district announced the official name: Deer Creek High School.
The school’s colors will be navy, silver and white.
The only remaining decision to be made is the school's mascot.
Residents can vote for their favorite in another survey open through Jan 27.
Options include the Broncos, Diamondbacks, Riverhawks, Thunder and Yetis.
The board of education will announce the final results at a study session Jan. 28.
