UDOT is proposing placing concrete barriers along US-189 between Heber and Charleston.

The Utah Department of Transportation has proposed adding three segments of concrete barriers in the median along US-189 between Heber and Charleston.

UDOT says the barriers would help reduce crossover accidents along this section of highway where traffic continues to increase as communities grow in the area.

The federally-funded project is sponsored by the Highway Safety Improvement Program. Its purpose is to significantly reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries on public roads.

UDOT will host a public meeting if residents request a hearing by Wednesday, May 14.

A decision on the project is expected this fall.
