The alleged road rage incident occurred around noon on May 17, in the parking lot of the On the Run gas station on U.S. 40, just south of downtown Heber.
According to an arrest affidavit, at the gas station, the alleged victim told Heber police he was merging onto U.S. 40 when Clark “became upset” and tried to pass him in the turning lane.
The man said he pulled into the gas station and Clark followed him. Clark then allegedly “began yelling at him, making threats to cut him and stab him.” The alleged victim told police Clark brandished a four- or five-inch knife at him, told him to meet Clark in Roosevelt, then drove away.
The man’s wife and children were also in the car and witnessed the altercation. Everyone involved stayed in their vehicles.
According to the affidavit, an off-duty police officer also witnessed the argument and saw Clark commit “several traffic violations,” including speeding, failing to signal and failing to stay in a single lane.
The affidavit says dispatchers alerted sheriff’s deputies and Clark was arrested in Duchesne County.
He allegedly admitted to being involved in the altercation, but said he and the other man “exchanged insults” and he never drew his knife.
Clark also told officers he has another road rage case pending. He’s facing charges of reckless driving, property damage and disorderly conduct in Logan.
In court Wednesday morning, May 21, a 4th District Court judge allowed Clark to post bail on condition that he take an anger management class. He will next appear in court June 25.
This case comes after several other violent road rage cases in Wasatch County.
A violent incident occurred nearby, at the intersection of U.S. 40 and U.S. 189, on May 6, when Blake Gaberiel Mecham allegedly punched a man and left him lying unconscious in a pool of blood and vomit. He will next appear in court June 11.
Also in Heber, Loren Ray Russell was charged with a felony after hitting a cyclist with his pickup truck April 13, breaking the biker’s leg. He entered a guilty plea in 4th District Court Wednesday morning and will return for sentencing July 2.
And Greg Kyle DeBoer is facing a felony obstruction of justice charge in connection with a deadly road rage incident in September 2024. He admitted to fatally shooting Hideout resident Patrick Hayes, then burying the gun near his home. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for June 4.
