Bob Wheaton Stepping Down From Role As Deer Valley President And COO

Deer Valley Resort

After nearly 38 years with Deer Valley, Bob Wheaton announced this morning in a press release he will be transitioning away from his role as President and COO of Deer Valley. Wheaton will take on a new role with Alterra Mountain Company as Senior Strategic Advisor.

In a prepared statment Wheaton said “I am grateful to our parent company for the opportunity to stay engaged and involved in the ski industry as I move into a new phase. As many of you know, I love working at my ranch with my wife Marion and very much look forward to having more time to spend with family and friends."

Todd Shallan will be taking over Wheaton’s role at Deer Valley. Shallan has a 35-year track record in the resort hospitality and recreation industries. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer at iFly Indoor Skydiving in Austin, TX.

Shallan will begin working with Wheaton on September 24th. Wheaton will leave Deer Valley at the end of December and begin his new position in January 2019.

David Perry, President and Chief Operating Officer of Alterra Mountain Company says of Wheaton.

“There are a handful of ski veterans and true pioneers who have contributed greatly to our industry, and we have been fortunate enough to have worked with one of them since the starting months of Alterra Mountain Company. Deer Valley’s Bob Wheaton is one of those people, and today we announce his transition from Deer Valley President and Chief Operating Officer to Senior Strategic Advisor for Alterra Mountain Company."
